"The Real Ghostbusters" aired from 1986 to 1991. It’s a cartoon sequel to the first "Ghostbusters" movie.
New York is infested with ghosts, “Who you gonna call?” The cartoon followed a group of scientists and an ex-taxi driver as they battled ghosts, monsters, and evildoers to protect the innocent (and sometimes not so innocent), citizens of New York and the rest of the world.
"Ghostbusters" is an intelligent and very amusing cartoon series that outdid the original movie. The cartoon took the underdeveloped, stock characters of the movie and expanded on them; which made them more enjoyable (especially Janine, who was nothing in the movie). Then something horrible happened to the show. I don’t know what it was; but suddenly it became really bad. Janine’s glasses became round, her voice became less annoying, and she lost all her spunk. Venkman’s voice went bad, and he lost all his wit. A giant pumpkin headed bad guy was introduced, and there was some useless junior Ghostbusters team. Six years after that, a horrible sequel was made that only lasted four months, "Extreme Ghostbusters".
