Black Jack
Home/Change Series
"Black Jack" was released in 1993, it’s a six part OVA + movie based on a Comic/Manga by Osamu Tezuka.
The series covers the exploits of a rogue physician with no license, acting above the law, treating patients with enough money to pay his fee. Unlike those unlicensed doctors that appear in the news, Black Jack is the most skilled surgeon in the world, able to treat any disease, wound, or supernatural occurrence.
I liked the look of this show and I really enjoyed the scene where Black Jack is drugged in tape 2. I have few cels of his faithful assistant Pinocco, because she gives me the creeps. Her existence in the show brings up the question, “Why did the creators of this cartoon pair a grown man with a little girl?” I’m also not very fond of tape 3. Still, this cartoon’s plot and characters are far more interesting than most anime’s.
